Contribute to Courants

Each magazine is a collection of art and creative pieces that our contributors send us around a common theme. The theme for the next issue, which will come out in October, is “Dressing up.” It's all about clothing, from vintage fashion to uniforms and theatre costumes, and the stories that come with it.

As long as it's relatively on-theme, you can submit whatever you want. Dig into your archives, or create something new. We’ll take it all: photos of clothing you made or wore, stories, poems, drawings, film reviews, manifestos, links to a song or a video (we'll print it as a QR code)…

Side notes: You retain your rights to your work, Courants doesn't own anything. We're just here to share great art. Also, we want the magazine to be bilingual. You can submit your work in English or French, and we'll include a translation if it needs one. Finally, If you're submitting a written piece, please try not to use AI, as its glossy language and recognizable turns of phrase take away from the soul and depth of your writing. As editors we can help you with your piece, just let us know via email.

As a contributor, we'll give you a free copy of the magazine, you just have to pay for shipping. The magazine is at this point funded by our readers and contributors, many of which have helped us build Courants into what it is now, so if you do want to pay for your magazine, we appreciate it! We don't take a dime, it all goes into the printing and the website.

To be considered, your artwork(s) should be submitted as a PDF, JPGs (or a link if it's a song or video) via email at courantsmagazine@gmail.com. Include the title of the piece, and if you want, information about it and your social media or website. Do let us know if you're ok with us posting it on our instagram. We reserve 1-3 pages per submission, depending on the size. Send us your work before October 20th.

You may also send us one or two songs that inspire you or help you create, and we’ll include them in the issue's playlist.

The theme of the winter issue will revolve around the mountains; you can send us your contributions now, especially if you want to be selected for the cover!
